Communion at New Life of Currituck

At New Life, we celebrate Communion as a remembrance of Jesus’ sacrifice.  Jesus said, “Do this in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19; 1 Corinthians 11:24–25).  The bread represents His body given for us, and the cup symbolizes His blood shed for the forgiveness of sins.

Communion is also a time of spiritual nourishment and renewal—a means of grace that strengthens our faith, deepens our relationship with God, and reminds us of the new covenant we have through Jesus.  It’s a celebration of His victory and a reaffirmation of our unity and hope until He returns.

Because Communion is both important and deeply personal, we provide two ways to participate every Sunday.  Communion tables are set on both sides of the sanctuary with bread and a cup of grape juice for intinction—simply break off a piece of bread and dip it in the cup.  If you prefer, single-serve communion is available at the back of the sanctuary.  You are welcome to partake at any time during the service as you feel led.

On the second Sunday of each month, we share Communion together as one body, highlighting our unity in Christ (1 Corinthians 10:16–17).  This shared moment offers a powerful reminder of community, reconciliation, and mutual encouragement.
