Fasting and Prayer for December 2014

Building a No Compromise Policy

Matthew 7:1-7

Key Verse - "Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it shall be opened." Matthew 7:7.8 NASB

A policy is a statement of intent, and is implemented as a procedure or protocol.

It is amazing to me how blessings from God flow into our lives through the power of the Holy Spirit when we are willing to look and compare ourselves to God's standards and not others.

Day One - Statement of Intent - I Will Not Judge

Read Matthew 7:1-7

Scripture for the day

"Do not judge lest you be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you."

"Ask, and it shall be given to you For everyone who asks receives"

Today I am sending you this challenge, that I pray will encourage you to seek God in every part of your life. A difficult thing for us to accept is that God's promises come with difficult choices. This scripture is no different. We all want to ask, seek and knock yet so often we skip right by the verses just before where God says we need to compare our thoughts and motives to Him and not others. So today before thinking you can ask God implement a no Judge statement of intent.

Comparing myself to others is the quickest compromise we can have which can hinder our Spiritual growth. It does not matter whether we compare up or compare down. When I compare down I beat myself up with my thoughts and emotions to the point I can never match the Spirituality of the person I am comparing myself to. When I compare up pride rolls into my thoughts and emotions that I am better then or more mature than the person I am comparing myself to. Both patterns of thoughts are self destructive and quickly turn into the judging of another. We then wonder why we ask God for something and then we wonder why God did not give us what we asked for or why He is not speaking to us.

STOP - PRAY

As you are praying ask God about all the relationships you have today. Spouse, parents, children, co-workers, teacher, student. Pray that God will reveal to you places in these relationships where you are judging them. Tell God you are sorry for judging them and ask God for forgiveness. Thank God for forgiving you and ask Him to give you a new statement of intent in your relationships. Write it down and keep it with you to refer to during each day. You could write something like this.

Lord I am asking you to quickly remind me when I am judging someone.  Show me the fear you want me to overcome to love that person the way you love them. Thank you Lord for your freedom to love others.

I am praying for you today
