Day 3 – Automatic Responses

Daily Verses - Mark 10:13-16

“And they were bringing children to Him so that He might touch them; and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, "Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. "Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it at all." And He took them in His arms and began blessing them, laying His hands upon them.”

Do you have pet peeves? Things that you see, or experience that upset you? The disciples had one here, it was little children. Children who they deemed not old enough to understand, should stay with and be trained by their parents. After all Jesus was way to busy, and stressed to deal with this too. Jesus was way to big of a figure to deal with these children, and more than that we can’t believe that these parents are so not in control of their children, what is wrong with them. Why are they interrupting the teaching, and causing chaos? How many times do you have a preset view of people, or yourself, that you miss what God wants to teach you about Himself? Our preset perimeters (Beliefs) of God, so often keep us from experiencing true freedom in Christ. Freedom in Christ can come when we are willing to allow God to change these presets through transformation of your thoughts. To transform a thought, we need to find the root, which lies at the motive. The motive means that there is an end result already in mind. How many times have you said something to someone, only to realize later that the comment had the opposite result than you intended? This is a result of an incorrect motive. God’s heart is to build up not tear down, He always has your best in His mind, and heart.

“For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the Lord,' plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:11-14.

Today ask God to begin to reveal a pet peeve of yours, and then ask Him to pull it out at the roots. Then ask Him to plant in its place, His correct thought, your mind, and heart will be transformed, and your change will be evident to all.
